This project involved a complete re-roof for a homeowner in Epping who had been dealing with persistent problems stemming from failing gutters and an ageing roof structure. Before any new materials went on, our team carried out a thorough inspection of the roof structure. Timber damage was found and repaired to ensure the new covering would be laid onto a sound, stable base — something we consider non-negotiable on any re-roof.

Materials and Specification

The customer selected charcoal Marley tiles in grey, which gave the property a clean, distinctive appearance against the existing brickwork. Beneath the tiles, we installed a breathable membrane felt conforming to British Standards, providing effective moisture management while allowing the roof structure to breathe properly.

A dry ridge system was fitted along the ridge line, removing the need for mortar bedding and offering a far more durable and maintenance-free finish. Dry verge units were also installed to the gable ends, improving weather resistance at the edges. Lead flashing was replaced where required, and roof ventilation was improved as part of the overall specification.

Additional Work Completed

While the scaffolding was in place, we also replaced the fascias and guttering with new uPVC fascias and gutters, addressing the leaking gutter issues that had contributed to the original problems. Chimney work was also carried out during the same visit, making the most of the access already in place.

The entire job was completed in two days, with scaffolding arranged by our team throughout. All work is backed by a 10-year guarantee and carried out under our public liability insurance, giving the customer complete confidence in the finished result.
